Damon braces are “self ligating” which means that they have their own built-in mechanism to lock in the archwire. No elastic or metal ties are necessary and frictional forces between the braces and the archwires are reduced.

Conventional braces on the left are tied in with elastics, which cause friction and pressure, making treatment slower and less comfortable. Damon braces use a slide mechanism to hold the wire, which allows teeth to move more freely, quickly and comfortably.

Lingual Braces
Lingual braces or invisible braces "look the best" as they are hidden on the tongue side of the teeth. While their "appearance" is excellent, they do interfere with the tongue and have an effect on speech. They are much more expensive than outside braces.
