Dr. Mark Beresford attended Waiwea College and Otago University. He has been a practicing dentist since 1976 and has been a practicing orthodontist since 1980. In addition, he is a member of several organisations, including the New Zealand Association of Orthodontists, the New Zealand Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Beresford has now completed his term as President of the New Zealand Association of Orthodontists. He and his wife, a lawyer, have two children.

Dr. Robert Max also attended Otago University, in addition to the Royal Dental Hospital in London. After completing his internship in paediatric dentistry and orthodontics, he started his formal courses in orthodontics. Today, as well as providing orthodontic treatment, he gives lectures to both dental and orthodontic audiences and the general public. He has been in practice for more than 30 years and is a member of numerous organizations, such as the New Zealand Association of Orthodontists, the New Zealand Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists and the Australian Society of Orthodontists. Dr. Max is the past President of the New Zealand Association of Orthodontists and Founding member of the Executive of the World Federation of Orthodontists. Married with four children and two endlessly fascinating grandchildren, he enjoys boating, reading and spending time with his family.
